About Naturally Good Coaching

Significance

Gallup data shows that people who have the opportunity to use their CliftonStrengths™ are:

  • Six times as likely to be engaged in their jobs;

  • Six times as likely to strongly agree that they have the opportunity to do what they do best every day;

  • Three times as likely to report having an excellent quality of life.

Investing in developing your talents is worth it.

Values

Talents as defined in CliftonStrengths™ are neutral - none has inherently more value than another, and people use the same talents in their own unique ways.

Often motivated and guided by our personal values, we can learn to use our talents to help maximise the fulfilment or expression of those core values.

In working with talents, I enjoy enriching understanding of them by connecting them with broader, deeper senses of value.

Vision

From early on in my life, the question “Why?” was often paramount - and challenging.

My work in the field of Directing nourished the concept of the importance of a vision. Organisations which have a clear and genuine vision, that is shared and supported at every level, flourish. Individually, a sense of meaning, purpose or vision can be invaluable. It is also unique.

I strive to embolden and sharpen your vision through my work.

My top five talents are:

Strategic | Learner | Deliberative | Adaptability | Connectedness

How might I use my top 5 talents as a coach? Though talents rarely work in isolation from one another, the following gives an impression of how I work from the perspective of my own talents:

I begin by establishing a totality, assessing the information given and drawing from my own observations in our interactions, and build a sense of where the most beneficial line of direction might lie.

Then I would gather as much pertinent information as possible regarding the present circumstances and relevant affinities to you and / or your organisation.

Next I will assess the risks and potential benefits of the various roads that lie ahead, taking both your short and longer term goals into consideration.

Prepared with this overall information, I will listen to feedback on suggestions, and offer varied  perspectives to consider. In an organisation, I will interact widely and compare views and knowledge with my own understanding. I ask what would be the most beneficial, effective outcome, in terms of your own aims with the coaching..

This in turn will be measured up against a sense of deeper value and resonance, offering a source of energy and stability through which growth is stimulated. Integrity - my own, each individual's and each organisation's - unifies much of what I do.

In summary: energised by your goals and challenges, I will dive deep into the situation with integrity, thoroughly consider many variables, and communicate concise ways to impact and inspire meaningful growth.

For a broader picture, here are my 6-11 talents which I use daily in all walks of life. They intensify or moderate, according to context, the top 5:

Ideation | Intellection | Empathy | Individualisation | Relator | Achiever

Taking inspiration from Seth, a wise old teacher, my coaching “will attempt to put individuals in touch with their basic instincts, to allow them to sense the impulsive shapes of their lives, to define their own versions of the ideal through the recognition of it as it exists in their own impulses and feelings and abilities, and to help them find acceptable and practical methods of exerting their natural power in the practical actualisation of those ideals.”
